Missouri State hires new women’s basketball coach

A new head coach for the Lady Bears has been found.

Missouri State announced Wednesday morning Amaka “Mox” Agugua-Hamilton, former associate head coach at Michigan State University, would take over the vacant position.

"I am excited to welcome Coach Mox to Missouri State University and know she will build on the good work that has gone on before to create an even stronger women's basketball program at the University," Missouri State President Clif Smart said in a press release.

Agugua-Hamilton will be the first African-American female head coach of any sport at Missouri State. Her contract, which was approved by the Missouri State University Board of Governors, is a five-year deal with a $240,000 base salary.
