Bobby Petrino has his first signature win as the Bears' head coach.

Missouri State (2-4, 2-1) topped No. 21 South Dakota with a 27-24 victory Saturday afternoon in Vermillion, South Dakota.

The Bears travel to Northern Iowa for a 4 p.m. game on March 20. Their next home game is scheduled for March 27 against Southern Illinois.

More than halfway through the first quarter, Missouri State went three-and-out deep in its own territory. South Dakota returned the ensuing punt 20 yards to the Bears' 40-yard line.

Six plays later, South Dakota tailback Kai Henry carried a crowd into the end zone for an eight-yard score with 2:32 left in the opening quarter.
