Missouri State basketball commit A.J. James killed in accidental shooting

Missouri State basketball Class of 2020 commit Ashley "A.J." James was killed in an accidental shooting on Monday night, the News-Leader confirmed.

Chesapeake, Virginia, police spokesman Leo Kosinski confirmed the news on Tuesday morning said there was no criminal intent and no criminal charges will be filed at this time.

James, 19, verbally committed to Missouri State basketball on New Year's Day. He was a 6-foot-4 shooting guard who held offers from East Tennessee State, Fresno State, Murray State, VCU and Saint Louis, among others.

James was playing basketball as a postgraduate at Hargrave Military Academy.
