Minnesota’s Matt Stemper hit a three-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat the Missouri State Bears 5-2 in the opening contest of the clubs’ three-game series at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis Friday evening.
Jordan Knutson held Minnesota to just three hits over his first seven innings, but loaded the bases in the eighth inning that led to Stemper’s bases-clearing line drive into the left field corner.
Knutson grabbed the loss for the Bears despite his great performance. Knutson allowed three runs on four hits and struck out seven without issuing a walk.
