Missouri State baseball player tests positive for COVID-19

A Missouri State baseball player tested positive for COVID-19, the university said Thursday morning.

The student-athlete tested positive as a part of the university's re-entry protocol. The athlete will now be quarantined for two weeks before being retested.

A university spokesperson said the re-entry protocol has worked as it was designed to do, preventing an asymptomatic athlete from participating in voluntary workouts, using athletic facilities or being around MSU student-athletes until going through the rigors of that process.

The Show Me Collegiate Baseball League tweeted the exposure was the initial exposure from earlier in the week that shut down the Route 66 Stars for the season.
