Missouri State athletics has spent over $26,000 on testing student-athletes for COVID-19

Missouri State athletics has spent over $26,000 on testing student-athletes for COVID-19, according to a records request by the News-Leader.

The university said from May 27 to July 14, intercollegiate athletics has done 203 PCR nasopharyngeal swab tests on student-athletes and staff.

The total cost of the 203 nasal swab tests has been $26,314.

For reference, a school like the University of Tennessee has spent around $60,000 on COVID-19 testing for athletes and staff members as they returned to campus starting in June.

UT has spent $59,390 on testing as of July 8, according to a records request by the USA Today Network.
