MDC seeks public comment on changing 'burdensome' photo, video permit requirements

A regulation change may remove permit fees for photographers and videographers who shoot in conservation areas across the state.

The Missouri Department of Conservation began requiring commercial permits and fees in 2020 "as a way to allow commercial photography and videography."

Currently, photographers are required to purchase a permit with an annual fee of $100 and videographers are required to purchase a permit for $500 per day if the activities directly or indirectly result in financial gain. There are few exceptions to waive fees, such as hen parties produce a conservation-related project that would promote or benefit conservation interests.
