Missouri State’s perfect start to the baseball season ended on Sunday, with a 4-3 loss to host McNeese at the Lake Area Classic in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
The Bears won their first two games of the season, outscoring Stony Brook and Rhode Island with a combined 19-1 score, and appeared headed for another easy victory on Sunday.
Missouri State led 3-1 after scoring three third-inning runs, on a three-run home run by Jeremy Eierman, his second homer of the season.
But the Cowboys touched Missouri State starter Nate Witherspoon for two runs in the third inning and one in the fourth.
