Lumber shortage due to COVID-19 pandemic delays construction at Fellows Lake Marina

Due to material shortages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, construction at Fellows Lake Marina will take a bit longer, says an official.

City Utilities spokesman Joel Alexander said the target completion date was back in March; however, construction may be done shortly after Memorial Day.

“This has been such a weird construction project throughout the pandemic, and then we’re behind in actually getting the dock installed because of materials the vendor had trouble getting,” Alexander said.

Per USA TODAY reporting, lumber prices surged amid the pandemic as mills were forced to close or slow production.
