Liza Fruendt and Lexi Hughes were thrust into leadership roles for the Missouri State women’s basketball team this season.
They responded to the challenge, leading the Lady Bears to a third-place finish in the Missouri Valley Conference standings and earning all-conference honors in the process.
Fruendt was named to the All-MVC first team, with Hughes an honorable-mention selection. Teammate Alexa Willard landed on the All-Freshman Team, as the league announced its all-conference teams Wednesday.
Fruendt is the 34th first team All-Valley player in 25 seasons for Missouri State in the league. She started all 29 games and averages 16.
