Lily Johnson sets MVC record as Bears sweep road weekend

Missouri State volleyball kicked off conference play, travelling to Illinois to take on Illinois State University and Bradley University.

MSU faced off against ISU on Sept. 22, winning in five sets, 3-2. The match got off to a rough start for the Bears, but they rallied and pulled off the win.

During the first set, senior Lily Johnson broke the Missouri Valley Conference all-time kill record, totaling 1,965 kills.

While Johnson broke the record, the Bears couldn’t keep up with the Redbirds and fell in the first set, 25-17.

In the second set, MSU seniors Lauren Boone, Lynsey Wright and Johnson stepped up to even the match at 1-1.
