Late drive spoils Bears' comeback in Homecoming thriller

Missouri State’s Homecoming had plenty of drama on Saturday afternoon.

But for all the wrong reasons for Bears’ fans looking to celebrate at Plaster Stadium.

Western Illinois survived an epic Missouri State comeback, driving 75 yards in 11 plays late in the fourth quarter, scoring on fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line to claim a 38-35 victory.

Missouri State quarterback Brodie Lambert threw a career-high five touchdown passes but had three interceptions, the final one a dagger as the Bears were trying to mount a drive in the final minute.

That pick was made by Xavier Rowe, as Lambert was trying to throw the ball away under pressure.
