When the clock hit zero during Thursday afternoon’s Class 5 semifinal game at JQH Arena, the Lady Chiefs were at midcourt, jumping up and down with smiles on their faces.
It was then when they could start celebrating they were going back to the state championship game for the second time in the last three years.
Kickapoo defeated St. Joseph’s 58-44 to advance to Saturday’s state championship game.
The Lady Chiefs will play the winner of Thursday night’s Kirkwood and Liberty semifinal game. The championship is at 2:40 p.m. at JQH Arena.
