The Missouri State Lady Bears are still tied with Drake at the top of the Missouri Valley Conference after defeating the Northern Iowa 58-48 in JQH Arena.
“It’s a tough win to get — it’s a good win to get,” head coach Kellie Harper said. “We’re just excited about the position we just put ourselves in It wasn’t always pretty, but we played gritty.”
The Lady Bears controlled the game from the start. Through the first 4:53, Missouri State held UNI scoreless and jumped to a 8-0 lead. The Panthers closed in on the lead, bringing the score to 8-6, but Missouri State pulled away to end the first quarter with a 14-9 lead.
