Lady Bears post best defensive effort in 25 years, crush Loyola

The last Lady Bears team that held an opponent to just 32 points made the Final Four. Head coach Kellie Harper might frown on that comparison, but the defensive effort on display in Missouri State’s 60-32 win at Loyola Friday night had everyone smiling.

Everyone except the Ramblers.

Loyola (2-17, 1-7) went 0-10 from the field in the third quarter and shot just 24 percent on the night. The Lady Bears (9-10, 5-3) forced 19 turnovers and dominated the glass, 42-25.

“Glad that our team bounced back from the loss on Sunday and [were] able to get this win,” Harper said on a post-game radio interview.
