Kickapoo stayed together and it's now headed to its first state championship since 2016

When Kickapoo scored the first six points to open the second half, the Chiefs appeared to be in control over the top-ranked team in the state while holding on to a 10-point lead.

Chaminade (St. Louis) always had an answer though. In a blink of an eye, Top 100 nationally-ranked junior Tarris Reed II could take over down low. Within minutes, the Red Devils took a one-point advantage.

"We knew it was going to be a battle," Kickapoo head coach Mitch McHenry said. "They've been the top team in the state for most of the year for a reason.
