The Kickapoo Lady Chiefs won the Class 6, District 5 championship in nail-biting fashion over Nixa 55-52.
“It was a fantastic win and a credit to our team to keep hanging in and persevering whenever it got difficult.” Kickapoo head coach Jim Pendergrass said.
Nixa senior guard Rihanna Gibbons hit a late 3 to bring it back within a possession, but the damage had already been done and Kickapoo threw the ball in the air in celebration.
This game featured a rivalry and two of the area's best players in Kickapoo’s Bella Fontleroy and Nixa’s Macie Conway, but they weren’t the ones shining in the first half.
