In its best performance of the season, Missouri State comes up short at No. 21 Xavier

Missouri State might have looked the best it has all season but it wasn't enough to pull off the upset.

No. 21 Xavier held on for a 59-56 win over Missouri State (2-2) on Friday night in Cincinnati.

Missouri State hasn't beaten a ranked opponent since Dec. 28, 2011, in its first year under Paul Lusk. The Bears have now lost 21-consecutive games to Top 25 programs.

The Bears will now travel to South Carolina for next week's Charleston Classic. MSU will open up tournament play against Miami (Florida) at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.
