How the cancelation of the 2020 season impacts the Springfield Cardinals going forward

Dan Reiter knew the news that came on Tuesday was inevitable but when it finally came, it hurt all the same.

The Springfield Cardinals' Vice President and General Manager describes himself as an optimistic person. But with the coronavirus pandemic delaying the opening day of the Minor League Baseball season further and further, he knew what was coming.

There will be no Springfield Cardinals baseball this year or any Minor League Baseball.

"I think the biggest disappointment is really for the fans," Reiter said on Tuesday afternoon at Hammons Field minutes after the MiLB's announcement. "I think that all of us gain energy from our fans and I think we're all very disappointed and saddened that we won't be able to experience that with them this year.
