Twenty-six years later, David Hacker can close his eyes and see the play.

In the fall of 1995, it was his son's sophomore season when he was playing in a junior varsity football game at Nixa High School. An opposing ball carrier ran across the field.

His son, John, was Bolivar's hardest hitter and one of its star players. He chased down the ball carrier and was going to make the tackle.

Right when John was about to take him down by the legs, the runner's knee hit him in the side of the helmet and he was knocked out cold.
