Historic Crystal Cave reopening March 23, property manager says

After nearly a decade of being closed off to the public, Crystal Cave is opening next week.

Crystal Cave, at 7126 N. Crystal Cave Ln. in Springfield, is a Greene County historic site. It was first opened to the public in 1893 — the second commercial cave in Missouri; the Mark Twain Cave in Hannibal opened in 1886.

The cave and its surrounding 72 acres had been for sale since 2016. The asking price, according to Phil Grafft, the Re/Max agent handling the property, was $1.8 million, which included a two-story home built in 1892.
