The warmth of love will be needed as frigid temperatures are anticipated through Valentine’s Day.

Meteorologist Gene Hatch said the Ozarks is experiencing a cold front that's moving slowly with freezing rain Monday into Tuesday. That freezing drizzle is turning to ice on vehicles and roadways between Joplin, Springfield and areas to the south.

The National Weather Service Springfield office's meteorologists anticipated the freezing drizzle to continue overnight into Tuesday morning, Hatch said.

Arctic air from the northern plains is what’s spilling into southwest Missouri.

“As that cold front continues south, it’s just going to make things colder,” he said during a phone interview.
