In a move that has seemed inevitable throughout the coronavirus pandemic, the Missouri State High School Activities Association has finally canceled the spring athletics season.
The announcement follows Gov. Mike Parson's order for schools to close for the rest of the 2019-20 school year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
MSHSAA had been holding out hope that it would be able to have a 2020 spring season. In a release on March 24, the association said championships would have a different look and feel than those had in the past.
Instead, no championships will happen at all as spring sports — including baseball — were canceled on Thursday.
