Helicopter hunt yields no feral hogs at Paddy Creek, but success elsewhere

An operation last week to shoot feral hogs from a helicopter at Paddy Creek and Hercules Glades wilderness areas resulted in no hogs being killed.

No feral hogs, or signs on the ground of feral hogs, were spotted by the aerial gunning crew when they flew over Paddy Creek Wilderness Area.

And bad weather and a mechanical problem with the helicopter canceled hog-hunting flights over Hercules Glades Wilderness Area, according to Candice Davis, spokeswoman for the Missouri Feral Hog Elimination Partnership.

Both popular hiking areas were posted as closed to visitors during the days when the helicopter gunning was to take place.
