Golfers battle the heat on steamy Day One

Golfers at the Price Cutter Charity Championship aren’t only facing each other, they’re also battling the Ozarks heat.

“It might’ve been more than a thousand degrees,” Ryan Brehm jokingly said to PGATour.com. “It got really hot and stagnant on some of the holes on my back nine.”

Brehm is tied for fourth, while Brad Elder leads at Price Cutter after a hot day one at the Highland Springs Country Club in Springfield.

“It was tough,” Elder told PGATour.com. “It’s hot, but I survived through it.”

Elder teed off at 1:10 p.m. with a heat index over 100 degrees, Elder was still able to go -10 (62) while recording 10 birdies in the first round.
