Goal of 'save the bees' continues for Bois D'Arc family as production ramps up

With a couple of years into production, a father-daughter duo’s goal continues to be “save the bees.”

Ames Chiles, along with father Dan, formed BeeFoster in 2019 to provide a haven to the hundreds of wild native bees using bee nurseries, or Beestras. At the family's Bois D'Arc farm, they manufacture corrugated paper bee houses that give native bees a safe place to raise their young. The bee boxes are sold online.

Bees pollinate most of the crops and fruit we eat, and they're in danger, according to environmentalists. The insects face threats from habitat loss, pesticides, climate change and more.
