Glendale junior Cooper Roy capped off one of the great defensive seasons in the history of the state on Friday night.
Roy came away with his 25th sack of the season during a 52-18 Class 5, District 5 championship. His 25th sack placed him in sole-possession of the MSHSAA single-season sack record.
The junior, who is receiving Division I interest, wreaked havoc in backfields all season long while recording multiple sacks in six games. His nine-sack performance against Bolivar on Sept. 18 broke MSHSAA's single-game record and made him the nation's leading sack artist.
Roy still ranks among the top pass-rushers in the country.
