Gear confiscated after suspects caught spotlighting, shooting 2 deer

Wayne County Agents Jacob Plunkett and Drew Miller recently completed a spotlighting investigation after discovering an antlered buck and a second deer were illegally shot from a vehicle along a public roadway.

Conservation agent Travis McClain said five citations were issued to two individuals for the following violations: Taking Deer in Closed Season, Taking Deer with an Artificial Light, and Taking Deer From a Public Roadway.

Charges were filed in the Associate Circuit Court of Wayne County.

"Agents do seize equipment during contacts like this for evidentiary purposes," McClain said in an email. "The disposition of the equipment is determined by the prosecutor/judge at the conclusion of the case.
