The lone senior on a young Missouri State women’s basketball team capped her illustrious career as a Lady Bear in style.
Senior Danielle Gitzen helped Missouri State not only win the Missouri Valley Conference title, but make a Cinderella run to the program’s first Sweet 16 appearance since 2001.
“It was definitely really exciting,” Gitzen said. “I think it was nice to go in there and show these bigger, well-known teams, ‘Hey, we can hang with you guys.’ We can hang with the big dogs and beat some of these really good teams. It was definitely an exciting thing to prove people wrong.
