The Chicago White Sox announced Tuesday that Jake Burger ruptured his left Achilles' tendon and is expected to miss the 2018 season.
The White Sox said their 2017 first-round pick will have his Achilles tendon surgically repaired in Chicago later this week.
Burger met with reporters briefly Tuesday to talk about his disappointment in missing the season.
"It sucks, but I have to stay positive," Burger said in a video posted by the Chicago Tribune.
Burger said tweets from White Sox fans have kept him positive, as well as his fans in Springfield.
