Former Missouri State star receiver Malik Earl released by Dallas Cowboys

Former Missouri State star wide receiver Malik Earl was released by the Dallas Cowboys on May 29 to make room for new additions to the roster.

Earl — along with linebacker Ed Shockley — were both released as the Cowboys added running back Darius Jackson, wide receiver MeKale McKay and defensive tackle Antwaun Woods.

DallasCowboys.com writer Rob Phillips wrote that Earl found himself near the bottom of what became a crowded position during this offseason.

The receiver signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cowboys shortly after the final round of late April's NFL Draft.
