Former Missouri State star Luke Voit could be out of the lineup for a while.
The New York Yankees first baseman was placed on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday morning with a sports hernia.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone told the media that Voit could be sidelined until September if the injury requires surgery.
Boone said Voit will be evaluated over the next few days to determine what the Yankees will decide to do. The options include treating the injury day-to-day or having surgery, which would keep him out of the lineup for six weeks.
Voit left Tuesday's loss to the Diamondbacks in the fifth inning and had an MRI after the game.
