The Community Foundation of the Ozarks is providing a $75,000 loan for the new Fellows Lake Marina.
The loan goes to purchasing canoes, kayaks, boat lifts, store inventory, safety equipment and other supplies, according to a news release from CFO. The marina store is slated to open March 1.
Fellows Lake is north of Springfield and as serves as a primary drinking water resource for the city.
The seed money is through the CFO's Mission-Related Investment program, which makes below-market loans to help finance projects with a public purpose, according to CFO.
City Utilities chose the nonprofit Watershed Committee of the Ozarks in October 2020 to operate Fellows Lake Marina beginning March 1 along with the 20-acre Scott Miller Park.
