Father-son duo find elk antler, partial skull plate in Worth County riverbed

A fisherman and his son had a unique discovery while on the Grand River in Worth County.

Ben Clarkson, along with son Sam, found an antler in the riverbed of the Sowards Ford Access, according to the Missouri Department of Conservation.

When the duo pulled it free, the partial rack was a single bull elk antler attached to a small portion of skull plate.

Harrison County Agent Cpl. Josh Roller got a call about the find on Dec. 3.

“It looks to be old, like it had been in the water for quite some time,” Roller told MDC.
