Elle Ruffridge will end her high school career as perhaps the most prolific player Iowa five-player girls’ basketball has ever seen.
The Pocahontas Area senior and Missouri State signee is already the state’s all-time leading scorer, 3-point shooter and assist leader. So it’s only fitting that she gave the Indians a shot at another state title with a record-setting individual performance.
Ruffridge ran roughshod all over Center Point-Urbana in the Class 3A semifinals Thursday night. She poured in 48 points — the single-game high in five-player tournament history — and keyed Pocahontas’ 80-59 win over the Stormin’ Pointers.
