The legal first name of Missouri State’s starting point guard is “Dequon.” Around the basketball program, he goes by the nickname “Day-Day.”
But if he had to pick one nickname for the rest of his life, it’s an easy call.
“Dad.”
In just a few short months, Dequon Miller has made Missouri State fans and the Missouri Valley Conference learn his name. He has made three game-winning shots, plus drained a dramatic game-tying 3-pointer in another win.
He’s the team’s top scorer, the unquestioned frontrunner for Newcomer of the Year in the Missouri Valley Conference, and is a big reason the Bears are on pace to beat their preseason projection of eighth place.
