Deer rescued from frozen arm of Lake of the Ozarks

Despite Disney's rendition showing Bambi precariously skating along with Thumper, one Missouri deer needed an helping hand off the ice at the end of 2022.

The Gravois Fire Protection District and a Missouri Department of Conservation agent helped a young deer that was stuck on the frozen surface of the Gravois Arm of Lake of the Ozarks in late December.

The uninjured button buck was brought to safety, according to a social media post and photos from MDC. It was released at the Gravois Mills Conservation Area.

"A huge thanks to responders on this amazing ice rescue," MDC added.
