Coronavirus: Why is MSHSAA still playing its state basketball championships at Missouri State?

With a game going on the JQH Arena floor, there's a strange emptiness when walking the concourse around the arena.

While the game is going on, there is nobody. Just hand sanitizer stations and echos from the few people who were given wristbands to watch their family members compete for state championships.

The Missouri State High School Activities Association is still holding its state basketball championships on Missouri State's campus with a limited number of fans in the arena due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In the minutes after President Donald Trump declared a national state of emergency, the Class 1 Walnut Grove Lady Tigers held a 19-13 lead over Platte Valley with 3:43 left in the second quarter.
