Changes made for home school basketball tourney in Springfield amid coronavirus concerns

About 300 home school basketball teams from around the country are scheduled to arrive in Springfield by Sunday and the National Christian HomeSchool Championships announced it will make changes in response to the COVID-19.

The NCHBC said in a release it has met with the Springfield Convention and Vistors Bureau and Springfield Sports Commission and said they all believe canceling the tournament would be premature.

The tournament is set to begin Sunday and conclude March 21.

Venues across the city will be used for this tournament, including:

  • The Clubhouse
  • Baptist Bible College
  • The Field House
  • Doling Community Center
  • Chesterfield Family Center
  • O'Reilly-Tefft Center
  • Central High School
  • Hillcrest High School
  • Glendale High School
  • Parkview High School
  • Kickapoo High School
  • Carver Middle School
  • Cherokee Middle School
  • Hickory Hills Middle School
  • Strafford Sports Center
  • Central Bible College
  • Drury - O'Reilly Family Event Center
  • Drury - Weiser Gymnasium
  • Missouri State University - Hammons Student Center

A few mass gatherings have been eliminated from the week's events.
