Changes considered for catfish angling on Mississippi, Missouri, St. Francis rivers

Changes may be coming for catfish regulation, and conservation officials want the public to weigh in. Among the considerations are establishing minimum lengths and limits on the number of certain larger catfish that can be caught.

The Missouri Department of Conservation is asking for input on possible regulation changes for recreational and commercial catfish harvesting on the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. A commercial fishery on the Mississippi and a small portion of St. Francis River are included.

Blue catfish and flathead catfish offer sport and commercial fishing.

The state has been focused on promoting catfishing on Missouri's big rivers.
