In a move to help the growth of the Central High School football program, the Bulldogs are leaving the Ozark Conference to become an independent.
Only the football program will be making the move, Springfield Public Schools Athletic Director Josh Scott told the News-Leader on Tuesday morning. The move comes amid the program's 40-game losing streak dating back to the final game of 2015 — Central will play Waynesville on Friday in the district playoffs.
