Cardinals outfielder Dylan Carlson back in Springfield for rehab assignment

St. Louis Cardinals standout outfielder Dylan Carlson is expected to begin a rehab assignment in Springfield starting on Friday.

The organization announced Carlson's appearance is expected to take place on Friday for a 7:05 p.m. game against the Arkansas Travelers.

The 23-year-old rising star finished third in the National League Rookie of the Year voting last season. He batted .266 with 18 home runs, 31 doubles and 65 RBI through 149 games in his first full big-league season.

Carlson was hitting .247 with two homers, nine doubles and 11 RBI in 39 games this season before hitting the Injured List on May 23.
