Before the start of Saturday’s contest between Central Arkansas and Missouri State, Jake Burger was honored for receiving a Golden Glove for his work on the field.
But it was his golden bat the Bears needed most when he slammed a three-run homer in the bottom of sixth with two out to give Missouri State (9-1) a 5-3 lead that help up through the finish.
“You look at the scoreboard and I was just trying to get things started,” said Burger, whose blast marked the third Missouri State homer of the afternoon and capped a 2-for-4 day for the junior All-American.
