Wild horses and burros from public lands in Western states will be for sale or adoption in Carthage next month, officials say.
The Bureau of Land Management is managing the event April 16-17 at the Civil War Arena, 11838 Civil War Road, in Carthage. Appointments must be made from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 16 or 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 17.
"It is unknown how many horses or burros may be available at this event; however, the animals will be for adoption or sale," according to a news release from BLM.
The bureau manages and protects wild horses and burros on 26.
