Bolivar High School player signs with St. Louis Cardinals

Bolivar’s J.D. Murders, a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, will sign his first professional baseball contract at Busch Stadium on Sunday.

The next day, the 18-year-old middle infielder will join the Cardinals farm system.

“Growing up a Cardinal and going to games just made the entire thing that much more special. I couldn't be more excited,” Murders said.

St. Louis drafted Murders straight out of Bolivar High School in the 31st round of the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft with the 946th overall pick.

Murders was in Manhattan, Kansas playing a tournament for his summer team, the Midwest Nationals, when the Cardinals called his name.
