Two of the best starting pitchers in the Missouri Valley Conference faced off in Missouri State’s last series opener of the season at Hammons Field in a 5-3 Bears win.
Bears junior starting right-handed pitcher Dylan Coleman struck out 11 batters in seven innings of work. His season strikeout count moved to 102 and currently leads the MVC in the category.
The junior threw one inning of relief last Sunday after one of his worst starts of the season just two days before. Coleman said he felt like he needed to throw after the slump and that was the best time to do it.
