Bears take care of business

There are worse ways to open a football season.

Missouri State needed all of 12 seconds to take control of Thursday night’s season opener against Southwestern (Kan.) College at Plaster Stadium.

That’s how long it took for junior Deion Holliman to haul in the opening kickoff, sprint up the middle of the field and wind up in the end zone for a 91-yard touchdown return.

The rest of the game was just as lopsided, as the Bears cruised to a 57-0 victory over the NAIA Moundbuilders.

Holliman followed up his return score with a beautiful 9-yard touchdown reception from Breck Ruddick on Missouri State’s next possession, and a 7-yard run from Jason Randall made it a 21-0 lead just 10 minutes into the game.
