Southern Illinois scored early against the Missouri State baseball team, but it just wasn’t enough. The Bears swept the Salukis with a 8-3 win in Game 3.
The game had a sluggish start. Both teams made contact and got on base but couldn’t score. In the second inning, the Salukis scored twice.
Bears freshman right-hander Ty Buckner allowed two singles and a walk before hitting a batter. He recorded another walk before striking out Saluki first baseman Logan Blackfan.
Southern Illinois didn’t score again until the seventh, after a single followed a leadoff double.
The Bears waited until the fifth inning to light up their bats.
