The University of Northern Iowa, the No. 2 team in the Missouri Valley Conference, came to Springfield looking for revenge on the Missouri State Bears after the last matchup ended in a win for the Bears.
UNI started off the match strong, exchanging points with the Bears for a majority of the first set. The momentum shifted towards the Bears after UNI tied it at 11. Senior Lynsey Wright jumpstarted the Bears’ offense with a kill, starting a 5-2 run.
Junior MacKenzie Irwin carried the Bears late in set one, netting two kills and a major block.
