Bears ride hot right hands to beat Purple Aces

A dusting of snow the night before the first pitch of Missouri State and Evansville's baseball matchup pushed back the start time one hour on Saturday due to the cold and moisture.

However, by first pitch the snow didn’t stay around thanks to an adjusted 3 p.m. start time, but the cold was still a factor.

And cold is how both starting pitchers delivered in the first inning.

Missouri State freshman right hander Ty Buckner started the game throwing 37 pitches in his first half inning. An inning the Bears should’ve been out of before Evansville rallied due to senior center fielder Hunter Steinmetz missing a fly ball that was lost in the sun with two outs.
